Psalm 29 became a launching point for me in my study of the Psalms. The word for thunder in Hebrew is also the word for rage and anger. The Psalmist uses this word picture to communicate the power and authority that God’s voice has and how it helps us to hear him clearly. What I love about the Psalms is that they help us to be distracted by God in our everyday life. To this day when I hear a loud thunder, I think, “Am I listening to God clearly in my life.”
Questions:
1. Do you think of God’s voice like thunder? Why or why not?
2. Do you listen for God’s voice in your life?
3. What are ways you can listen for Him?
4. The last line says that the Lord will bless His people with peace. How do you see the blessing of peace (shalom) in your life?
