A couple of years ago, someone asked me to begin to pray Ezekiel 36 over our camp, our ministries, our church, and our country. I quickly said yes, not understanding what I was getting myself into. After I got home, I looked up Ezekiel 36 and in the words of another pastor, “it hit me like a brisk cold bath.” How could God work for his own sake rather than for ours? This is a difficult text to understand, but the promise that awaits is something we all need.
